The Accessibility Checker\"The<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Accessibility Checker scans your entire document for common accessibility violations and provides a dedicated task pane with one-click fixes, ensuring your publications are fully readable by screen readers and comply with WCAG 2.1<\/strong> guidelines.<\/p>\n

Running the Accessibility Checker\"Accessibility<\/span><\/h3>\n

    Go to the Review<\/strong> ribbon tab.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Click Accessibility Checker<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    The Accessibility task pane slides out on the right and scans across all pages.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    What It Checks\"What<\/span><\/h3>\n

    The checker flags three types of issue:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n

      Missing Alt Text (High severity) \u2014<\/strong> Images without a descriptive alt attribute. Screen readers will be unable to describe these to visually impaired users.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Low Colour Contrast (High severity) \u2014<\/strong> Text and background colour combinations that do not meet WCAG 2.1 minimum contrast ratios.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    • \n

      Illogical Heading Structure (Medium severity) \u2014<\/strong> Detects missing H1 headings, skipped heading levels (for example, jumping from H1 directly to H3), and pages with no headings at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Fixing Issues\"Fixing<\/span><\/h3>\n

      For each flagged issue, the task pane shows a colour-coded severity indicator (red for high, orange for medium), a description of the problem, and a Fix Issue<\/strong> button that instantly navigates to the offending element and triggers the appropriate repair workflow \u2014 for example, opening the Alt Text dialog for a missing alt attribute, or applying a high-contrast theme for a contrast failure.<\/p>\n

      Auto-Fix Missing Titles\"Auto-Fix<\/span><\/h3>\n

      The scanner can automatically generate and insert an H1 page title on any page that is missing one, directly from the Fix Issue<\/strong> button \u2014 no manual editing required.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
